About us
About UselessDecor
This little shop didn't start with a business plan.
It started with an ordinary autumn afternoon in the garden.
It Started With a Sign
I had just picked the tomatoes I grew that year.
Months of planting, watering, waiting — and finally, tomatoes.
That part was easy to understand.
Plant tomatoes. Get tomatoes.
Useful.
After that, I poured myself a drink, sat down in the garden, and didn't really do much of anything.
On the fence was a sign I had made earlier:
"Let's Grow Some Shit."
There wasn't a big story behind it when I made it.
I wasn't trying to say anything important.
I didn't even start the garden thinking everything had to grow into something worth harvesting.
I just liked the sign.
So I hung it there.
And Then It Just Became Part of the Place
I sat there for a while, looking at the tomatoes, the flowers, the fence, and that sign.
The tomatoes had an obvious reason to be there.
The flowers, not so much.
The sign definitely didn't.
None of that seemed to matter.
I liked having them there.
Eventually, I fell asleep in the chair.
When I woke up, it was already dark.
Nothing important happened that afternoon.
No big lesson. No special occasion.
But I still remember it.
And I still remember that sign being there.
Sometimes "I Like It" Is Enough
After that, I started noticing how many things in our lives work the same way.
Some things have a clear job.
Cups hold coffee. Towels dry things. Shelves hold stuff.
We use them, wear them out, replace them, and move on.
And then there are the other things.
The thing sitting on a shelf for years.
The sign on the wall that doesn't tell anyone where to go.
The odd thing in the kitchen that everyone asks about.
The thing you bought even though you had absolutely no good reason to buy it.
Except that you liked it.
Somehow, those things stay.
They become part of the room.
Part of a memory.
Sometimes part of a joke that only makes sense to a few people.
Sometimes they never become anything deeper than something you simply like having around.
That's fine too.
So... Why UselessDecor?
The name is a little joke.
"Useless" usually sounds like a bad thing.
But we don't think everything we keep around has to explain what it's good for.
Some things are useful.
Some aren't.
Some just end up staying with us.
Maybe they make us laugh.
Maybe they remind us of somebody.
Maybe they fit somewhere in the house in a way we can't really explain.
Maybe we just like seeing them there.
We don't think they need a better reason than that.
For People Who Make Spaces Feel Like Their Own
UselessDecor is for people who slowly make a place feel like theirs.
Not by following a decorating rule.
Usually just by living there long enough and bringing home things they like.
The shelf that somehow became your shelf.
The weird thing in the kitchen everyone comments on.
The sign in the garden that still makes you laugh.
Something on the wall that probably means more to you than it does to anyone else.
The thing you bought for absolutely no good reason.
Except that you liked it.
That's pretty much us.
How Things End Up Here
There isn't much of a system behind it.
Some ideas come from something that happened that day.
Some start with a phrase that gets stuck in our head.
Some are just things we saw and thought, "Yeah, I like that."
That's usually enough.
UselessDecor is a small shop.
We're not trying to fill every room or convince you that you need more stuff.
We just make and share things we like.
And every now and then, someone else sees one and thinks:
"Yeah. Me too."
Our Promise
Since we're a small shop, we'd rather keep our promises simple.
- We'll be honest about what you're buying.
- We'll pack every order with care.
- We'll do our best to make sure it gets to you safely and in good condition.
- If something goes wrong, we'll treat it like a real problem from a real person.
- And we'll try to keep this little shop feeling like a little shop.
Useful Things Help Us Live
And sometimes the "useless" things are simply the things we keep around.
They don't always need to mean something.
They don't always need a purpose.
Sometimes, "I like it" really is enough.
Thanks for stopping by.
Welcome to UselessDecor.
